18th Birthday Cakes

You have none for ages, then 2 come along at once. Both were pretty fun to make, but I have learned that making ribbon decorations is not actually very easy! I think I could have done with some wired ribbon? Maybe...

Was also really pleased with how this little guy came out:

Bowling Green Cake

This cake gave me a chance to practise my modelling skills. I'm so glad I'd bought the Head's Up tutorial from Extra Icing, I was really pleased with how much better my head was compared to last time! Really must try out some of the other tutorials I've got soon.

Giant Cupcake, tractor and fire engine

I have been a bit lax in putting up the photos of what I've made these past few weeks...

Cinderella goes Boxing...

Well not exactly! I haven't had a whole lot of time lately, so these two have had to wait.
Cinderella was VERY last minute (wednesday for saturday!) so thank goodness my hubby is an artist. Cinderella was put together like a layered jigsaw, then he painted her face.

The Boxing Gloves were very simple to make though. Took an oblong cake made in a roasting tin and cut it in half. Then carved the gloves. Covered with red sugarpaste and voila!

Next up I have a tractor, then a giant cupcake (Mmmmm...cupcake)

Practise wedding cake

This was one I did to practice AND hopefully use to help publisize (sp?) the fact I can do wedding cakes! I mean so far, I've got one booking for next year. So I think this will be my "poster girl" for the leaftlets I'm planning on getting designed and printed soon... I was also trying out these edible diamonds. I have to say I don't like the big size. I just feel they look a bit tacky? Maybe its just me, but will see if the smaller size look better!

VW Campervan

This seemed alot more work that it may look! I reckon I spent about 2 hours decorating this. Its all the little fiddly bits, cutting out the windows, matching them up on both sides, headlights, number plate...etc...
I think if I did another one it needs to be less wide and a bit higher.

I decided to take some photos of the actual process last week when I made this cake for twins, who were getting West Highland Terrier puppies for their birthday.
